How We’re Keeping the Family Business in the Family
11 July 2021
When Michael King purchased Elders Lennox Head in 2003, his plan was to grow the business by providing exemplary services to a community that he loved being part of. And along with wife Sharon, he did exactly that.

Michael and Sharon added to the business in 2018, when they acquired Elders Bangalow, and now proudly service both the Ballina and Byron Shires. Elders Bangalow and Lennox Head is widely recognised as one of the best real estate businesses in the area, winning multiple awards over the years and growing the team from five staff to more than 28 real estate professionals today.

The team now includes senior management, many of whom have been with the business since inception, which means Michael has been able to spend less time in the general running of the business and more time as a doting grandfather to his five grandkids.

Locals know and love Michael and his effervescent energy, and he was always adamant Elders would remain a family-oriented business which upheld the same friendly and personable approach he’d spent so many years building.

With his son-in-law Nick Bordin and son Jake King joining the business over recent years, Michael’s vision for a community-minded, family-run business has remained steadfast. The day-to-day running of Elders Bangalow and Lennox Head may have been passed over to Nick - but we’ve not seen the back of Michael just yet. While his week’s might include more babysitting duties than ever before, he’s still a present and vocal advisor to the wider team - and every now and then, can’t help but take on a listing of his own.
